Official Rules for CST ‘Inspire a Dream Contest’ (the “Contest”)
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO ALL RESIDENTS OF CANADA AND IS GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF CANADA. BY ENTERING, EACH ENTRANT AGREES TO BE BOUND BY THESE CONTEST RULES AND THE DECISIONS OF THE SPONSORS WHICH SHALL BE FINAL IN ALL RESPECTS.

1.    ELIGIBILITY

To enter the Contest an individual (herein defined as an “Entrant”) must, at the time of entry into the Contest and Prize fulfillment:

(a)  be a legal resident of Canada;

(b)  be located in Canada;

(c)  have reached the age of majority in his/her province or territory of residence; and

(d)  EITHER be the parent or legal guardian of a child OR has received permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian who is qualified to be designated as the beneficiary of a Prize (as defined in Rule 5 below). To be designated as the beneficiary of a Prize, the child must be a) a legal resident of Canada and b) have not reached the age of thirteen (13) years by January 31, 2025.

Note: An Entrant may designate an unborn child, however the child must be born by January 31, 2025.

Employees, representatives, agents, officers, and directors (including members of their immediate families and any other person living in the same household of such person whether related or not) of C.S.T. Savings Inc. (“CST Savings”) and C.S.T. Spark Inc. (“CST Spark”), (each a “Sponsor” and collectively the "Sponsors" or “CST”), their affiliates (including, without limitation, parent, sister and  subsidiary companies), any independent contest judging organization, advertising or promotional agencies and suppliers of materials or services related to the Contest are not eligible to enter the Contest or to receive a Prize. For these Official Rules, "immediate family" means mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter and spouse, including common law spouse, regardless of where they reside. Groups, clubs, organizations, businesses and commercial and non-commercial entities cannot participate.

The decisions of Sponsors are final and binding in all matters related to this Contest and the awarding of the Prizes. The Sponsors shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the Contest. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to the  Sponsors for the purpose of the Contest must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading. The Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion to disqualify any Entrant, should such an Entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information or if the Entrant provides duplicate friend or family member information on more than two occasions.

2.    CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest commences at 9:00:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on February 1, 2024 and will end at 4:59:59 PM (ET) on January 31, 2025 (the "Contest Period"). All entries must be received by 4:59:59 PM (ET) on January 31, 2025 (the "Contest Closing Date"). The Contest computer system (the “Contest Computer”) is used to govern all computer and time-related aspects of the Contest (including the date and time an entry was received) and, among other things, is the official time-keeping  device for the Contest.

3.    HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. There are six (6) ways to enter the Contest, each as described below:

Click on the Contest button or URL and complete the online entry form with your first name, last name, e-mail address, postal code, phone number and the designated child(ren)s’ date of births. Select the tick box if you would like to opt in to receive a telephone call or email from a Sales Representative of CST Savings to learn more about the Canadian Scholarship Trust Plans (“CST RESPs”). Indicate that you have read, understood, and accept the Official Rules by checking the appropriate box. Select the “Submit” icon.

2. https://www.cstsavings.ca/inspire-a-dream/?repID=<4 digit rep ID> (rep ID will be provided by Sponsor’s Sales Representative) (CST Savings specific contest website)
3. https://www.cstspark.ca/en/inspire-a-dream-contest/spark-24 (CST Spark specific contest website) Click on the Contest button or URL and complete the online entry form with your first name, last name, e-mail address, phone number and province. Select the tick box if you would like to opt in to receive a telephone call or email from a Mutual Fund Representative of CST Spark about a CST Spark RESP Account and the CST Spark Education Portfolios. Indicate that you have read, understood, and accept the Official Rules by checking the appropriate box. Select the “Submit” icon.
4. https://www.cstsavings.ca/share-the-joy?repId?customerId= (<4 digit rep ID> and <8 digit customer ID> will be provided by Sponsor) Click on the Contest button or URL and complete the online entry form with your first name, last name, e-mail address and the first name, last name, phone number and e-mail address of a friend or family member. Indicate that you have read, understood, and accept the Official Rules by checking the appropriate box. Select the “Submit” icon. Entrants will receive one (1) Entry into the Contest for each new friend/family member provided.  Refer to Rule 1 above for disqualification for entering duplicate friend/family details.
5.  https://www.kidssaythanks.ca Click the URL and complete the online entry form on the landing page for the CST Savings ‘Kids Say Thanks’ promotion. This includes providing your first name, last name, e-mail address, postal code, phone number and the designated child’s date of birth. Details about the CST Inspire a Dream contest will be promoted on this promotional landing page. Entrants who indicate that you have read, understood, and accept the Official Rules by checking the appropriate box and selecting the “Submit” icon are entered into the contest.

 

For the purposes of this Contest, an Entry occurs when the contestant completes and submits the entry form on the Contest Websites. With the exception of: www.kidssaythanks.ca where an entry occurs when the entrant completes and submits an entry form into the Kids Say Thanks CST Savings promotion and accept the Official Inspire a Dream contest rules by clicking the appropriate box on the site.

 All entries become the sole property of the Sponsors and will not be acknowledged or returned.

6. Ballot:

Ballots for entry can be obtained through Sales Representatives of CST Savings or from a CST Savings Sale Representative of attending local trade and/or event shows within Canada (as permitted by applicable law) during the Contest Period. For a listing of trade and/or event shows in your city and/or province, send an email to [email protected] on or before 4:59:59 PM (ET) January 31, 2025. 

To enter: Complete the ballot by hand-printing your first name, last name, e-mail address, postal code, phone number, and the designated child’s date of birth. Select the tick box if you would like to opt in to receive a telephone call or email from a Sales Representative of CST Savings to learn more about CST RESPs. Deposit the ballot into the ballot box provided or mail-in the ballot, both as further described below. Opting-in to receive a call or e-mail from a CST Savings Sales   Representative is optional and will not affect your chances of winning).

a.       Deposit the ballot into the ballot box on or before the closing time of the trade or event show. To be eligible for a Prize, ballot must be deposited into the ballot box and/or received by the applicable Sponsor by the end of the trade show.

b.       Alternatively, ballots may be mailed to ‘Inspire a Dream’ 1600 – 2235 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario M2J 5B8, bearing sufficient postage. To be eligible for a Prize, mail-in entries must be post-marked before the end of the Contest Period as outlined in Rule 2 below.

4.    ENTRY LIMITATIONS

Each entry must be submitted by the Entrant him or herself. Proof of transmission (screenshots or captures etc.) or attempted transmission or of submission or of attempted submission of any communication, does not constitute proof of delivery or receipt by the Sponsors. Entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programmed, or any other automated means are prohibited and will be disqualified. The Sponsors will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, falsified, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, postage-due, garbled or incomplete entries, which will be void. All entries become the property of the Sponsors upon receipt, and none will be returned.

5.    PRIZES

There will be a total of one hundred and one (101) prizes to be won.

Grand Prize:

$10,000 RESP from CST

Prize consists of a $10,000 CDN RESP from one of the Sponsors awarded to the winner for the benefit of the designated beneficiary (child or children). Entries received through CST Savings websites will be eligible for a CST RESP and entries received through the CST Spark website will be eligible for a CST Spark RESP. The applicable Sponsor will deposit $10,000 CDN into the winner’s beneficiary RESP from CST for the benefit of the designated child or children. The selected Entrant(s) will be required to work with the applicable Sponsor’s Sales Representative or Mutual Fund Representative to set up a CST RESP or CST Spark RESP in  his/her name with a designated beneficiary, if such an account does not already exist. There is no requirement to add or deposit any further monies or funds into the CST RESP or CST Spark RESP.   The selected Entrant (s) must accept the terms and conditions of the applicable Plan or account as set out in the current Prospectus and/or Education Savings Plan Agreement in order to be declared the winner. Copies of the Prospectuses may be obtained from the Sponsors by sending a written request to:

All Prizes will be delivered only to the verified winner within Canada. Prizes must be accepted as awarded without substitution and are not transferable or for resale and have no cash surrender value. The Sponsors reserve the right, to substitute a Prize or component of equal or greater monetary value without liability and for any reason. The applicable Sponsor will send an email to the selected Entrants within fifteen (15) days of the Contest Draw Date to begin making the necessary arrangements to deliver his/her Prize subject to his/her fulfillment of the prize claim conditions set out in Rule 5 and Rule 7.  If the applicable Sponsor does not receive a response (either through email or phone) from the selected Entrant within ten (10) days of the applicable Sponsor’s email being sent, then the Entrant may be disqualified and the Sponsors may select a new Entrant for the prize.  The process will continue as outlined above until all prizes are awarded.

6.    DRAWS

All random draws will be made by the Sponsors at 1600-2235 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario at  10:00 AM (ET) on February 12 2025. One (1) entry will be randomly selected, for each of the above prizes from among all entries received during the Contest Period starting with the Grand Prize and followed by the Secondary Prizes according to the order in the prize chart. All non-selected entries will carry forward into the remaining draws.  Odds of being selected to win a Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries submitted per Entrant and the total number of entries received during the Contest Period.

7. PRIZE CLAIM CONDITIONS

Each selected Entrant will be contacted by email at the email address provided on his/her entry form within fifteen (15) business days of the Contest Draw Date. Please check your email and spam filters. To be eligible to win a prize, the selected Entrants must first correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a mathematical skill-testing question. The Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to administer an alternate test of skills as they deem appropriate or necessary to comply with applicable law. The Sponsors will not be responsible for the failure for any reason whatsoever of a selected Entrant to receive notification or for the Sponsors to receive the selected Entrant’s response.

Prior to being declared a winner of the Grand Prize, the selected Entrant must complete and return the Sponsor’s Declaration of Compliance and Release of Liability and Publicity Release Form (the “Form”) releasing each of the Sponsors, their respective parent, related and affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies, participating retailers, and all of their respective directors, officers, owners, partners, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (the “Releasees”) from any liability in connection with this Contest or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize. If a selected Entrant’s designated beneficiary is not his/her child, his/her parent or legal guardian, the parent or legal guardian of the designated beneficiary must complete and return Release of Liability and Publicity Release Form. The potential winner must return this Form to the Sponsors’ office by mail at 1600-2235 Sheppard Ave. E., Toronto, ON M2J 5B8 or email within 14 business days following the date that the selected Entrant was first contacted by the applicable Sponsor. In the event that a selected Entrant cannot be contacted by  email, fails to provide proof of eligibility (if requested), release documents, or other required documentation in a timely manner, fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question, or if there is a return of any email notification as undeliverable, or other   non-compliance with these Official Rules, then the selected Entrant will be disqualified all without any liability to the Sponsors whatsoever (and the disqualified selected Entrant will have no claim against the Sponsors with respect to the Contest, or anything related to the Contest). Another Entrant will be randomly selected from the remaining eligible entries (and subject to disqualification in the same manner) and the process above will be repeated until such time as contact is made with one (1) selected   Entrant for each of the prizes or until there are no more eligible Entrants.

8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASES

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages; therefore, such exclusions may not apply to you.

BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, ENTRANTS AGREE THAT RELEASEES HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY ENTRANTS AGAINST, ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSSES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY RESULTING FROM A PRIZE, INCLUDING THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, MISUSE OR USE OF THE PRIZE. FURTHER BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, ENTRANTS AGREE THAT RELEASEES HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY ENTRANTS AGAINST, ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSSES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY RESULTING FROM: A) ENTRY OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST, INCLUDING ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE CONTEST WEBSITES, OR B) ANY CLAIMS BASED ON PERSONALITY OR PRIVACY RIGHTS, DEFAMATION OR MERCHANDISE DELIVERY.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Releasees do not assume any responsibility and are not responsible for (i) the incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information and entries that fail to comply with these Official Rules; (ii) any loss, damage, or claims caused by an awarded Prize or the Contest itself; (iii) any failure of the website during the Contest Period, including any problems, human or technical, printing errors, lost, delayed, garbled data or transmissions, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects or failures of any telephone or computer lines, or technical malfunction of any computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e- mail or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an Entrant’s or any other person's computer related to or resulting from downloading any material connected to the Contest, all of which may affect a person’s ability to participate in the Contest. Entry material/data that has been tampered with or altered is void.

9. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

By entering the Contest, Entrants (i) acknowledge compliance with these Official Rules including all eligibility requirements, and (ii) agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the Sponsors, made in their sole discretion, which shall be final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to disqualification.

Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Void where prohibited. The Sponsors reserve the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operator errors. The Sponsors' failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.  If any provision of the Official Rules is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, then the Official Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein. Should a winner make any  false statement(s) in any document referenced above, the winner will be required to promptly return to the  Sponsors his/her prize, or the cash value thereof. The Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process, the operation of the Contest and/or Contest websites, violates the Official Contest Rules, or acts with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CONTEST OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND THE SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PROSECUTE AND SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

10. ENTRY AUTHENTIFICATION/VERIFICATION

If a dispute arises regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address provided at the time of entry. The authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. The potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.

11. RIGHT TO CANCEL, SUSPEND OR MODIFY

The Sponsors reserve the right to terminate, suspend or modify this Contest or to amend these Official Rules, in whole or in part, at any time and in any way, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever, without obligation, if in Sponsors' sole opinion, any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules. Without limiting the foregoing, if for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, for any reason, including but not limited to, as a result of tampering or infection by computer virus, unauthorized intervention, fraud, programming errors, or technical failures, which, in the sole opinion of Sponsors, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, the Sponsors reserve the right to modify, suspend or terminate the Contest, or any portion thereof, and/or conduct a random draw from all eligible entries received, in accordance with the winner selection criteria discussed above.

12. RULES GOVERN

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Official Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including, but not limited to: the Contest entry form, and/or point of sale, television, print or online advertising; the terms and conditions of these Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control. In case of any discrepancy between the English and French versions of the Rules, the English version shall prevail.

13. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All intellectual property, including but not limited to trade-marks, trade names, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source code, drawings, illustrations, logos, slogans and representations are owned  by either of the Sponsors and/or their respective affiliates or authorized licensors. All rights are reserved.  Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted materials or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

14. CONSENT TO USE PERSONAL INFORMATION AND PUBLICITY RELEASE

The Sponsors and their authorized agents will collect, use and disclose the personal information you provide when you enter the Contest for the purposes of administering the Contest and Prize fulfillment. By entering this Contest, you consent to being contacted by either of the Sponsors and their authorized agents about this Contest and your entry.  You may also be offered the opportunity to receive additional communications  from either of the Sponsors about their products, upcoming contests and promotions, or career opportunities. You will only be contacted for these purposes if you consent to receive such communications at the time of entry. By accepting a Prize, winner agrees to each Sponsor's use of his/her name, city/province of residence, picture, biographical information, statements, voice and likeness in any advertising and publicity that either of the Sponsors may conduct relating to the Contest in any media or format, whether now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the World Wide Web, at any time or times in perpetuity, without further compensation or notice.

15. PARTNER COMPANY BRAND SOCIAL MEDIA SITES

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with any social media site on which the contest advertisement is placed. You are providing your information to CST Savings and CST Spark and not to the social media site.  The social media sites are completely released of all liability from each Entrant in this Contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to Sponsors and not the social media site.  The Contest must be directed to Sponsors and not the social media site.

16. PRIZE SPONSORS

 All secondary prizes have been donated by each respective company. The secondary prize sponsors do not endorse and are not responsible for the administration of this Contest.

17. CST

The Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation and its subsidiaries, C.S.T. Savings Inc. and C.S.T. Spark Inc., operate under the master brand name CST. The terms “we”. “us’ and “our” refer to CST.
